We made mince pies today – they looked and smelled lovely
The Care Inspectorate have just provided the following information to staff and parents addressing concerns over eye infections.
We made our Christmas cakes today. We used 4 eggs in our cake, they were a lot harder to crack than we thought, we had to bash them hard against the jug to break them. We put sugar, butter and flour in beside the eggs and mixed it all round. We put lots of dried fruit in too, we sorted some of the different kinds out, there were red cranberries and big, yellow raisins and small black raisins as well as brown sultanas. It was hard work mixing them all into the cake mixture and we thought it looked really yucky but it smelled ok.
We’ve been hard at work today making some decorations for our Christmas trees.
We wrote letters to Santa today because we hope he will come and visit us soon and bring us some presents. We wanted to make sure he brought the right present to the right house so we wrote to him to say what we would really like for him to bring us. We wonder if you can work out what we asked for?
Our list included : a workbench, a doll, nappies, Spiderman’s car, a chocolate penguin, a teddy bear, a train, a Buzz Lightyear Power and Zurg toy, Lego, SpiderMan and Diesel’s Shed

Please remember that Thursday and Friday this week (23rd and 24th November) are “in-service” days and that Playgroup will be closed. Staff plan to be busy clearing out some cupboards and getting ready for Christmas!
Today at Playgroup we watched a story about a lion and a mouse (https://youtu.be/T9L9wuNelLA).
The lion was kind to the mouse and didnt eat him and the mouse remembered the kind lion and helped free him from a trap. We talked about some kind things we can do. At playgroup we can be kind by helping our friends and sharing our things. As it comes up to Christmas we intend to look more into being kind and into doing Christmas Kindnesses. Although Christmas is still quite a long way away we need to start making some things to use as our Christmas Kindnesses so today we started by making some bookmarks. We are aiming to gain recognition as a Makaton Friendly playgroup. We already use Makaton during our sessions but we will also be taking part in the Makaton Sign of the Week.
