We’ve been hard at work today making some decorations for our Christmas trees.

Ive just come across 3 books in the Harry the Happy Mouse series all available to download just now for free onto Amazon Kindle. These are lovely wee stories about the impact of being kind and fit in well with our acts of Christmas Kindnesses. I will be reading them to the children but you might like to take advantage and download them too 🎅🏼

We wrote letters to Santa today because we hope he will come and visit us soon and bring us some presents. We wanted to make sure he brought the right present to the right house so we wrote to him to say what we would really like for him to bring us. We wonder if you can work out what we asked for?
Our list included : a workbench, a doll, nappies, Spiderman’s car, a chocolate penguin, a teddy bear, a train, a Buzz Lightyear Power and Zurg toy, Lego, SpiderMan and Diesel’s Shed

I’ve been interested in learning Makaton for some considerable time now but always struggled to find someone to teach me. Out of the blue I received an email from Karen who is a Makaton Regional tutor and I’ve just finished her 4 week foundation course. It’s been such good fun with a lovely group of people and I’ve been inspired to sign up for the follow on course in January.
At Cambusbarron we already use some Makaton (we always say and sign Good Morning) but I hope now to incorporate it more widely. I’ve already found it helpful as a reinforcement, when children see and hear a statement at the same time it is more likely to make an impact. I’ve been doing the Makaton Sign of the Week recently and now we are doing this as a group. We hope that parents will join in too!
Please remember that Thursday and Friday this week (23rd and 24th November) are “in-service” days and that Playgroup will be closed. Staff plan to be busy clearing out some cupboards and getting ready for Christmas!
Today at Playgroup we watched a story about a lion and a mouse (https://youtu.be/T9L9wuNelLA).
The lion was kind to the mouse and didnt eat him and the mouse remembered the kind lion and helped free him from a trap. We talked about some kind things we can do. At playgroup we can be kind by helping our friends and sharing our things. As it comes up to Christmas we intend to look more into being kind and into doing Christmas Kindnesses. Although Christmas is still quite a long way away we need to start making some things to use as our Christmas Kindnesses so today we started by making some bookmarks. Watch this space to see what we will do with them!
We are aiming to gain recognition as a Makaton Friendly playgroup. We already use Makaton during our sessions but we will also be taking part in the Makaton Sign of the Week. This week’s sign is Hello and we all practised saying and signing Hello (https://www.facebook.com/TheMakatonCharity/videos/1492887200766294/)
A reminder that we will be having a small cake sale at the end of playgroup tomorrow (Friday November 17th @ approx 12:15) to raise funds for Children in Need. Children have been asked to come to playgroup wearing their jammies – we’ve been led to believe we are going to see some very special PJs 👍🏻👍🏻
We’re getting ready for our Children in Need cake sale on Friday (12:15 at the Community Centre) – Pudsey bear shortbread biscuits were in our oven today!
