Update – January 2024

We are pleased to report steady progress towards developing the next phase of our plans to move our nursery service to the woods. During this interim phase we plan to build a shed which will serve as a shelter and storage area and will support our children’s play and learning in the woodland.

This week we met with members of the Cambusbarron Community Development Trust board of trustees and agreed a rough position for our shelter. Have a look at this (very amateur) drone footage showing the identified location (adjacent to the Walled Garden). The taped area is very approximately the size of the proposed shelter (about 7mx5m).

Our architects are working on our planning application and we intend to submit this in the next few weeks.

We will be at the CCDT Open Day in the Community Centre on Saturday Jan 27th between 11am and 4pm if you want to talk to us or find out more about our plans.

Below are suggestions for what our shelter could look like.

Merry Christmas

CVN is now closed for the Christmas and New Year holiday. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and the very best for 2024.

We look forward to seeing all of our children back in nursery on Jan 8th 2024.

Christmas Party!

We have a very big Thank You to say to everyone at the Oasis group and especially to Angela Samson for hosting our joint Christmas party today. Jackie from Tapsalteerie Theatre joined us to retell the story of The Night Before Christmas and helped get us (more) into the Christmas spirit before we tucked into a wonderful spread consisting of biscuits, crisps, jelly, ice cream and juice – there might have been a little bit of chocolate in there too 😉
We exchanged our presents and our children were absolutely thrilled to receive a bag full of goodies from our older friends and particularly to find beautiful hand knitted red squirrels and foxes inside. How lucky are we??

We also have to say thanks to Norman for photos and also to the Cambusbarron Community Fund who have supported our Christmas activities

Apply for Session 2024/2025

We are now accepting applications for session 2024/2025 (starting August 2024).

Children already attending CVN do not need to apply again. Please notify us ASAP however if you anticipate that will be a change in your child’s attendance pattern.

Applications should be made using Stirling Council’s forms (PDF or WORD) and then emailed to us at admin@CambusbarronVillageNursery.com.

Random Acts of Christmas Kindness

We were surprised and delighted to return from our session in the woods today to find an envelope containing a note and donation towards our children’s Christmas party. The note wasn’t signed so we are unable to say thank you properly but we are keen to make whoever it was aware that we are so very grateful.
We are so proud to be part of such an amazing community 🥰

Eric the Elf

We had an amazing trip to the Macrobert Theatre to see Eric the Elf this afternoon. We had a trip in a bus, a picnic, we helped Eric save Christmas and got a sticker in return and then another bus journey back to nursery – what was not to love?? We are all now well and truly in the Christmas spirit 🎄 🎄 🎄 🎄
Thank you to Hunters Executive Coaches Ltd and the staff at the MacRobert for looking after us all so well.
A big thank you also to Cambusbarron Community Council and Foundation Scotland (Cambusbarron Community Fund) for supporting our trip.

Recipe Book

We are pleased to say that our firt ever Nursery Recipe Book is now available to order. Priced at £3.50 this contains around 40 amazing recipes for things our children like to eat at home and that we make in nursery.
A copy is available to view in nursery if required.
Please email us (Jane@CambusbarronVillageNursery.com) or speak to one of our staff to let us know how many copies you would like!

National Tree Week 2023

We celebrated National Tree Week today by planting 5 oak saplings in Gillies Hill Community Woodland.
3 years ago our nursery children collected acorns and Amos Higgins planted them in the Walled Garden. We’ve watched them germinate and grow into baby oak trees when we’ve visited the garden. Today we were able to dig some of the saplings up and move them to a permanent home in the woodland.
Despite the frosty weather and some hefty tree roots our children worked hard to dig holes deep enough to make sure our little tree roots could spread and grow. We are grateful to Angus Elliott for helping us find the best place and for putting in stakes and tree guards to protect our baby trees from the deer and rabbits. We are looking forward to watching our trees grow! We wonder how long it will be before they are taller than we are!
