Jubilee Afternoon Tea

A big thank you to everyone who came along to our Jubilee Afternoon Tea today. We were fortunate to have chosen such a glorious day and that we were able to sit outside in the sunshine. Our children and staff worked hard to decorate and set up our garden and to make sure there were enough cakes for everyone although there was a time when it looked like we would run out! A big thank you to our helpers, particularly the dishwashers, we really appreciate it.
Thank you too for all the comments and suggestions for our new nursery in the woods, we can’t wait to be able to invite everyone to afternoon tea in our new building!

Growing Time

We’ve been getting on with planting our vegetables in the Walled Garden at Gillies Hill Community Woodland this week. We’ve been planting the beans, turnips, carrots, courgettes, onions and beetroot that we sowed before the Easter holidays. So far we have filled one of the beds where the old greenhouses used to be. Next week we hope to get our raised bed planted too!

Community Clean Up Month

Our children worked hard to clear the park and surrounding area of litter this week as part of our Community Clean Up Month.
If you would like to take part in this initiative there are organised litter picks happening on Saturday April 2nd and also on Saturday April 9th (see the poster for details). Or, why not stick a bag and gloves in your pocket next time you are out for a walk and just pick up something?? Every piece of litter picked up and disposed of correctly helps make our village safer and cleaner for everyone. #LiveHereLoveHere #CommunityAction #KeepScotlandBeautiful #putitinthebin

Visit from Learning through Landscapes

Last week a team from Learning through Landscapes Scotland visited us on a glorious sunny spring day. LtL are making 24 short films for Scottish Forestry about managing sites for regular use by early years settings and asked if they could come and see what we get up to at Gillies Hill Community Woodland. We were very happy to meet them and show them around. We were also very interested to see their film and sound equipment.
