We had a fantastic first morning at Woodland Play today. We are so lucky to have such a great resource on our doorsteps. As expected the burn was the biggest draw and most, if not all, of our children managed to get more than a little wet! It’s interesting to see the changes in group dynamics when you take the children into the woods and how the interaction is just subtly different. Lovely also to see so much imagination, interests, enthusiasm, cooperation, participation, team work, empathy and much much more. Roll on day 2 😊

Springtime – Tadpoles
We are officially Makaton Friendly!
We are so excited and pleased to announce that the use of Makaton in our setting has been recognised and we can now officially call ourselves Makaton Friendly! This is a great achievement for our setting. We are the first, and as of now, only service of any kind in the Stirling area to be considered to be Makaton Friendly!

Cambusbarron Community Fund
We are delighted to announce that our application to Cambusbarron Community Fund (administered by Foundation Scotland) for funds to assist with running our pilot Woodland Play sessions has been successful and that we have been awarded £1983.04. This will allow us to purchase initial equipment as well as help with costs associated with the pilot project. This will make a significant difference to our ability to run this project and we are very grateful!

Happy Easter
Playgroup will be closed on Friday March 30th for the Easter holidays. We will reopen on Monday April 16th. We hope you all enjoy the break, hopefully with some lovely spring weather.
Lending Library
Our playgroup is a learning community where our children are not the only learners. Our staff are continually learning along with the children, developing new understandings and allowing practice and thinking to evolve. We are committed to continuing professional development and regularly attend training and workshop sessions to support our children’s learning. We also encourage the developing early years workforce. We welcome early years trainees within our setting mentoring them and allowing them to gain experience.
Playgroups are traditionally supportive communities for young parents at a time in their lives when they are at risk of stress, anxiety and isolation. We also support parents in growing their parenting skills as well as their children. To this end we have created a lending library of a variety of books with information on child development, learning theories, activities and games. Some are on display in our playroom but please ask a staff member if you are interested in borrowing a book from the bookshelf
Our Woodland Play Plans
The children have been helping with the planning of our Woodland Play Sessions. Here are some of the things we think we will need to think about and some of the things we hope to do
Thank you Woodland Trust
We were very lucky to get some trees from The Woodland Trust last week. Today we filled up our tractor tyre with compost and planted them around the edges. We hope they will grow up into a great den for us to play in 🤞🏻 #FreeTrees #WoodlandTrust

Chickenpox
We’ve been made aware of a couple of cases of chickenpox within the village. For your information, the current advice from Health Protection Scotland on chickenpox is that
Children who have chickenpox are excluded from playgroup until all vesicles have crusted over (usually 5 days).
and
if you are pregnant and come into contact with chickenpox and have had no history of chickenpox then you should contact your midwife or GP.
