Hot lunches now being served

Lunch got a big thumbs up from our children today – the first day of the free hot lunches delivered to our nursery from the kitchens at Cambusbarron Primary School. We tucked into lentil soup, sausages, beans and mash and tomato pasta with salad. Tomorrow we are looking forward to tomato soup, scrambled egg on toast and stovies with broccoli!! How lucky are we???

Christmas Jumpers

As we are nearing 12th night and putting away our Christmas items for another year we have been thinking of the environmental impact of one of the newer Christmas traditions, the Christmas Jumper.
Christmas Jumpers often contain a large percentage of plastics and are generally only worn on a very few occasions before being replaced by a newer version the following year. At CVN we love our Christmas jumpers but reports like the one below about the impact of fast and disposable fashion on our environment have made us think about how they fit into our policy of being environmentally aware and promoting Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
So, this coming year, around November, we will be hosting a Christmas jumper sale and swap. If you have Christmas jumpers that will be too small by next Christmas,or, maybe the New Year resolution will hold and they will be too big (🤞🏻), or, if you just know you will fancy a change, PLEASE, rather than disposing of them pass them on to us and we will find them a new wearer for Christmas 2020.
Jumpers can be handed in to us at the Community Centre at any time.
Thank you

Public Access Defibrillator for Cambusbarron

Cambusbarron Community Development Trust held a successful defibrillator training awareness day today. The village will soon have a public access defibrillator situated outside the community centre. Chairperson Richard Norman said “We are indebted to Trossachs Search and Rescue Services for their advice and support prior to and on the day. Brian Devlin and Dr Jan Chesham delivered a clear and concise session and demonstrated that a defibrillator is easy to use. If any local group would like some further training, they would be happy to assist. Email secretary@trossachs-sar.com The defibrillator was purchased from funds from the old social club and Stirling Electrical Services has generously agreed to fit it”.

Thank you to members of the Cambusbarron Development Trust, The Community Centre and the user groups particularly Cambusbarron Village Nursery and Rock and ‘Reel’ for pulling everything together.

The Defibrillator will be maintained by Trossachs Search and Rescue. Their list of Public Access Defibrillators can be found at https://www.trossachsdefibrillator.co.uk

Co-op Community Fund

We are delighted to have been chosen to benefit from the next round of the Co-op Local Community Fund. The funding round will open on 27 October 2019 and close on 24 October 2020. During this funding phase, Co-op Members will be able to choose Cambusbarron Village Nursery as their local cause.

Every time a member buys selected own-brand products and services, 1% of the money they spend will come to the Village Nursery!

If you are a Co-op member all you have to do to help us benefit from this scheme is to go on-line and choose CVN as your preferred local cause! If you aren’t a Co-op member then you can join online at https://membership.coop.co.uk/new-registration.

Woodland Play Open Day Oct 2019

We had a wonderful open session today in the woods. It was lovely to see so many people enjoying our fantastic woodland in the lovely autumn sunshine. The soup, bread and pancakes seem to go down a treat though I think they, and we, were all well smoked! Thanks to everyone who contributed to making this such a happy and fun afternoon for all concerned. We’d love to see your photos and hear your comments on the afternoon as well as suggestions for future events!
